The Central Weather Bureau had issued warnings regarding Typhoon Namtheun, and in response, scallion farmers in Northern Taiwan were moving fast to gather their crops in fear of damages, and to minimize their potential loss.

Six to seven women are sitting in the water washing scallions.

They are worried about strong winds bringing heavy rains as they try to speed up the process of washing these scallions.

This year's Sanshing Village scallions are much better in quality than those in previous years due to the late arrival of typhoons.

But the unexpected arrival of Typhoon Namtheun in northern Taiwan has posed a serious threat.

With the Central Weather Bureau issuing a typhoon warning at 11:00PM on the 30th, scallion farmers rushed to harvest their crop at 3 AM early next morning.

However, there were still scallions left in these fields as farmers hope that there won't be too much rain this time, otherwise vegetable and scallion prices would continue to soar for an extended period of time.
