It's risky on both the sea and the land in the East part of Taiwan. With the powerful waves and winds measured at Force 9, travelers on board of the ferry at the Green Island are fighting against the strong current to return back to Taitung City, while residents are experiencing dust storm in the region. Even out on the field, farmers are rushing to rescue their pomelos from the unstable weather, to ensure its availability for this upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. A force 9 wind reaches the outer sea of Taitung. More than 600 tourists in Green Island rushed to take ferry back to Taitung before the typhoon comes. Once the ferry arrived the Fugang Pier, heavy rain and strong wind hit the area and tourists can't even hold their umbrellas. Although the level of wind waves is escalating, two visitors from Hong Kong insisted to stick to their travel plan and take a ferry ride to Green Island. During the day the weather in downtown Taitung was sunny and with a high temperature. But influenced by outer circulation of the typhoons, wind-blown sand is seen at the riverbed of Beinan River, which really disturbs motorists. In Tunghe township of Taitung, which is famous for its pomelo production, farmers came to rescue the fruit to minimize the loss in the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Since the typhoons are closing in on Taiwan and the wind waves gradually rise in Eastern Taiwan, the public is advised to be prepared for the typhoons and avoid water activities for safety reasons. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
