Thousands of Changhua residents are strongly backing the Kuokuang Petrochemical Complex, and are hoping that the project will pass the environmental evaluation. Supporters believe that the new establishment will create job opportunities and revive the local economy. These residents from big towns in Changhua, including Fangyuan and Erlin, held red banners in front of the Environmental Protection Administration to voice their support of the Kuokuang Petrochemical Technology Corporation's development plan, as they believe the project would boost local economic development and young people would return to work. Kuokuang chairman Chen Bao-lang came to express his gratitude toward the supporters and promised to provide a lot of job opportunities in the future. Some Changhua politicians mobilized more than 1,000 people to come to Taipei in 45 tour buses to show their support of local development. They believe environmentalists are the few who oppose the plan, adding the conservation of Chinese white dolphins is important but not overvalued. After submitting their petition in favor the development plan to vice minister of the EPA, the supporters went to the Legislature and the Executive to get their voice heard. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
