Typhoon Meranti brought heavy rain to Taimali in Taitung County. Residents of the alerted zones need to be evacuated from their premises. Difficulties arose when it came to transportation of the elderly and the handicapped. After the rain finally stopped, students of a local elementary school had to be relocated to another place so that they could resume classes after a 3-day hiatus. A heavy deluge of water caused by Typhoon Meranti's precipitation continously rushes in, snapping the bridge of Taima area and Jinlun village of Taitung County. In the alerted red zone, emergency patrolmen worked tirelessly to help the elderly escape the imminent danger. An old grandmother was too weak to move, so a patrolman was called in, to lift her to an ambulance that delivered her to safety. The rainfall from the typhoon has washed away a total of 40 homes, and residents had to set up camps at placement institutes. Students of Daniao Village had been dismissed for 3 days and once the sky cleared up, the students had to be temporarily relocated to another school to resume studies. All of them were excited to meet friends they hadn't seen in a long time.
