The 2010 Taipei International Invention Show announced this years winners over the weekend, and works by Taiwanese contestants have collectively won 381 medals, accounting for over 80% of all medals awarded. Many office workers worry they can't retrieve their clothes on rainy days. This solar powered clothes hanging system can detect the change in weather. When it detects a cloudy or rainy day, the system automatically retrieves the clothes. This smart clothes hanging system won this year's special award. Another special award winner is this environmental chop stick. You can pull it from up top, which fixes the problem of not being able to be washed. This chop stick is both environmental and healthy. These inventions that make life easier all won awards at the Taipei International Invention Show. Deputy Economics Minister Huang Chung-chiu said he hopes to increase Taiwan's invention value through invention sales and industry and academic partnerships. Taiwanese inventors took 113 gold, 115 silver, and 153 bronze medals from a field of 18 countries and 962 works. The number of entrants and participating countries is a record high. But, most of the works submitted are targeted for daily life.
