Kaohsiung Municipal Senior High School's former principal, Wang Jia-Ji passed away on November 1st at the age of 106. He served as principal for 24 years as former students are now in all aspects of society with Hsu Shui-teh, the former Examination Yuan President, recalling an incident involving him and the old principal. Hsu said that many years ago when he was a student, he got into a fight with the son of the Parent Teachers Association and was to be expelled from school ;the principal gave him the chance to serve a temporary suspension which is something he will never forget. Wang Jia-Ji the principal of Kaohsiung Municipal Senior High School died of multiple organ failure on Monday. He was 106 years old. Before his death, he asked for his funeral to be simple in accordance to his life. Friends of the school were on hand to prepare him for his final journey. Former ExaminationYuan President Hsu Shui-teh had been friends for more than 70 years. Hsu recalled that Wang was very strict, expelling his own son after a fight as Hsu almost faced a similar fate due to similar actions. However, Wang also had a soft side, as Hsu came from a poor family serving at night as a tutor he was excused from attending the early morning flag-raising ceremony. Wang Jia-Ji was the principal from 1948 to 1972, serving for 24 years and dedicating his life to education. There are many buildings at this high school which Wang supervised the construction of, but you will not find his name on any of them.
