Taipei's International Flora Expo officially opened yesterday, and one of the major features of this event is its eco-friendliness. One of the pavilions not only displays artworks made of recycled materials, but the building itself is almost entirely constructed with used plastic bottles. Here on CTS, let's give you a tour of this extraordinary green building.

From a bird's eye view of the Yuanshan Flora Expo exhibition, the white, ship-like trapezoidal structure is the exhibit for specifically showcasing innovatively recycled materials.

Constructed out of 1.5 million water bottles, this pavilion is not only a wonder to behold, the garden of flowers surrounding it is watered by an underground irrigation.

This underground irrigation method is environmental, and it reduces carbon footprint.

A waterfall and water spouts keep the temperature down indoors, making air conditioners unnecessary.

The design of the water bottles was inspired by a specific cause.

Walking inwards, visitors will see twelve artpieces, each with a theme of a different floral design, for example, the black and white water lily puppet, the green tea fairy, and the red golden lotus queen.

Every featured piece was exquisitely hand made using recyclable materials.
