The Special Investigation Panel has concluded its investigation of the corruption case involving several judges taking bribes from the former KMT legislator Ho Chi-hui. Three high court judges have been indicted for graft, along with a Banciao district prosecutor and the politician himself. Prosecutors are now demanding heavy punishment on the defendants for manipulating the legal system.

Grey-haired high-court judge Chen Ron-he was escorted by investigators.

He took the bribe from former legislator Ho Chi-hui and reversed the first trial verdict that handed Ho 19-year jail sentence.

Prosecutors asked for 18 years of jail sentence and a fine of 1.5 million NTD as they believe Chen not only failed to fulfill his duty as a judge by taking bribes but also showed no sign of remorse.

Another former judge Tsai Guang-chi was also asked for heavy sentence as he was allegedly taking bribes and acting as a broker.

Tsai denied all of the charges and was asked for 24 years of jail sentence and a fine of 1.5 million NTD.

Prosecutors found that Tsai may have taken bribe from another case and during the investigation, he refused to tell the truth and cooperate.

Another judge, Lee Chung-di admitted to have taken 2 million NTD from Ho Chi-hui and prosecutors therefore ask for 11 years of prison sentence, and a fine of 2 million NT dollars.

In addition, a three year sentence was requested for the Bancio district attorney Chiu Mao-jung, and 6 years for Ho, who initiated this bribery incident involving the top judiciary in Taiwan.
