As Kaohsiung's first painter who studied in Japan, Chang Chi-hua, had dedicated his life to the art of painting, and had great contribution to the art field in 1950s. This year at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Chang's family has decided to hold an exhibition of his works to commemorate this artistic master. Born from a doctor's family in Kaohsiung, Chang Qihua is Kaohsiung's first artist to have studied in Japan. The studio in this picture was Kaohsiung's important art location in the 1950s. Old artists such as Liao Jichun and others were once Chang's guests. The outgoing and amiable Chang stressed the main colors in his paintings. This painting when he was 21 won him a scholarship from a Japanese art school. Additionally, there are many of Chang's work around Kaohsiung's Shoushan. All these paintings are important collections for historical groups outlining Kaohsiung's history. Even though Chang's works were recognized, he even held exhibitions to encourage companies from Southern Taiwan to collect art. Only about 100 of Chang's work have survived, because many were destroyed in the Second World War. His offsprings have donated all 131 of his paintings to the Kaohsiung Fine Arts Museum. The museum will hold a special exhibition to celebrate Chang's 100th birthday this year, so people can understand more about this historical artist. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
