It's been awhile since we heard from the two pandas, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan at the Taipei City Zoo. The panda frenzy has dropped tremendously, from 20,000 people during its peak, to now about 2,000 visitors only per day. The two cute animals have since matured, and if lucky, we may have a chance to catch baby pandas very soon. Giant pandas Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan look so adorable as they wake up and enjoy breakfast of bamboo. But the number of visitors seems to be a lot less than before. On a rainy day, the visitor number is only 2,000. Two years ago, when the pandas were introduced to Taiwan, the visitor number each day exceeded 20,000. Still there are a few people who pay a visit to the cute panda bears, who were sent to Taiwan in the end of 2008. On January 24th, they made a debut appearance. While the panda craze may have cooled off a bit after two years, the pandas continue to grow. Now Tuan Tuan weighs 125 kilograms and Yuan Yuan 117 kilograms. Both are 10 kilograms heavier than when they just arrived. According to Taipei city zoo, the panda pair has completely matured and is ready to give birth. The zoo estimates the reproductive cycle of Yuan Yuan will arrive in February or March this year, and the chances for the two pandas to have babies are greatly increased. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
