Fancy Frontier, one of the biggest animation, comics and games festivals in Taiwan, was held at the National Taiwan University Sports Center the previous weekend. In addition to Japanese comics, the event also showcased many drawings from local young authors, attracting over 50,000 visitors. Wearing wigs and self-made costumes, cosplayers dressed up like the comic characters. They can choose to be any fiction characters, from a cute maid, to a vampire knight and they are always the first to catch people's attention. As cosplayers gathered outside the sports center, the fair inside the center was also bustled with comic book fans, who were thrilled to see Sugita Tomokazu, the voice over artist of a character from a Japanese animation. Fancy Frontier has been held for many years, and is regarded as the carnival for cosplayers during the summer and winter vacations. Even though Japanese comic works have been dominant in Taiwan's comic book market, more and more local young writers and their creations are catching comic book lovers' attention. A-shih, the Taiwanese comic book writer, depicted the scenery of "Jingmei" into his creation and publishes the Japanese edition to promote the beauty of Taiwan to Japanese readers. Still, although Taiwanese writers work hard to win popularity, Japanese comic works attracted more fans' attention with superior marketing strategies. The two-day Fancy Frontier 17 featured over 900 booths from more than 700 organizations, and attracted over 50,000 fair-goers. It is not only a platform where people can see the latest comic and animation works, but also a place for cosplayers to showcase themselves. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
