The Annual Martyrs' Memorial Ceremony was held in Taipei on Tuesday, with the descendants of many late-Qing revolutionaries attending the event in honor of the ROC centennial. And President Ma emphasized in his speech that significant contributions have been made by Taiwanese people during Dr. Sun Yat-sen's revolution efforts, which clearly showed Ma's attempt to uphold Taiwan's legitimacy in the interpretation of national history. Five Thunder Tiger jets fly in formation over Martyrs' Shrine to pay their respects to the Republic of China's war dead. All three branches of the armed forces took part in the event, and a 21-gun salute officially opened the memorial ceremony. The families and descendants of the deceased revolutionaries were invited to attend, and it was the first time to Taiwan for Lu Hao-tung's granddaughter and Qiu Jin's family. As the annual spring ceremony is held to commemorate the Huanghuagang Uprising, President Ma Ying-jeou referenced the uprising and its ties to Taiwan in his address. With China holding a series of events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution this year, the Ma administration is determined to protect the Republic of China's right to historical discourse. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
