The Atomic Energy Council is trying to calm our fears, but despite the effort, everyone is still deeply concerned with the radioactive dust that may be in the skies of Taiwan, following the leakage in Japan. What are the preventive measures? And what can we do to settle our nerves? Here on CTS, we have some tips for you.

The officials from the Atomic Energy Council have said that even if the radioactive dust reaches Taiwan, the amount will be so low that we wouldn't have to worry at all.

But what if we are the anxious type?

Then follow these steps to avoid any chances of contamination.

First, to prevent being exposed to radiation, stay indoor when possible while keeping the doors and windows shut at all times.

When heading outdoors, be fully protected with clothes, and put the attires in the wash immediately when home, which can get rid of most of the radioactive dust.

Follow with a shower to thoroughly clean the body from head to toe.

If this doesn't cut it, then try drinking tea, or eating seaweed and kombu, which has the ability to absorb some of the radioactive materials because they are rich in iodine.

But experts are suggesting people not to over consume on these foods, but do it in moderation because excessive quantity of iodine can be harmful to human health.

Iodine pills are also strongly discouraged by the AEC, who are stressing that we are safe for the time being. So take many showers, do loads of laundry and drink some miso soup to give the mind a sense of peace.
