According to a survey conducted by the Jing Chuan Child Safety Foundation, there are only 824 legal after-school facilities across Taiwan, which means that around 93% of school kids are actually exposed to unsafe environments. The foundation is demanding the Ministry of Education and the Interior to implement a thorough inspection throughout the locations across the island right away, to ensure the safety of children. For more than 700,000 school children around the island, home is not their first destination after class, for they have to go to child care centers to work on their assignments while waiting for their parents. The Jing Chuan Child Safety Foundation recently discovered that there are only 824 legitimate child care centers in Taiwan, which can collectively accommodate about 35,000 school children. And in Keelung City, only one after-school child care center has been established under the approval of the authorities. Many people are therefore questioning: what kind of places have most parents sent their children to? According to the Jing Chuan Child Safety Foundation, the lack of clear standards in child care center management has created several gray areas and posed various dangers to children's after-school safety. And the foundation is urging the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Interior to conduct a nationwide inspection on these facilities for the protection of the little ones. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
