A Taiwanese farmer's hard work has paid off, making him the first to successfully grow blueberries in Taiwan.

After 15 years of research and testing on the Dabajian Mountain in Hsinchu, which is located at 1,600 meters high, the breeder achieved his goal as the largest blueberry producer on the island.

Holding a small basket this person is picking blueberries. This is not the United States or Canada, but Hsinchu's Dabajian Mountain which is Taiwan's first successful blueberry farm.

At 1,600 meters, this high altitude pollution-free environment was the inspiration for Fan Zeng-Da who spent 15 years working on this farm.

Now is blueberry season with this small fruit all around. It is rich in vitamins and anthocyanins that not only help the eyes but are also a very antioxidant food.

Also, the sweet and sour taste is popular with children and adults.

Fan experienced failure several times and often wanted to give up but when he sees this fruit turn from green to blue he feels a sense of accomplishment and now he is the largest blueberry producer in Taiwan with annual output of 4,000 kg.

With each kilogram selling for 1,000 NT$, he is able to earn 4 million NT$ in annual revenue each year.

He hopes to introduce blueberries to many people even making Popsicles that taste great as he points to the healthy benefits of other products like DIY blueberry vinegar and all types of meals and drinks.

A visit to this area is truly a blueberry paradise.
