Mountain climbing has emerged as a new trend among politicians and business owners. With the former Chief of the Department of Health setting an example, by reaching to the peaks of 100 mountains across Taiwan, many company CEOs are also encouraging their employees to go for a hike for their health benefit and as a stress relief strategy.

Former DOH Chief Yeh Jin-chuan has spent 40 years in achieving his goal of climbing to the top of 100 mountains throughout the island. Now close to 1000 people have also fulfilled similar goals.

Take Mr. Dai for instance. The businessman, who is a devoted hiker, has so far accomplished making to the peaks of 49 mountains, and his mission is still ongoing. On the other hand, this young girl, who is only eight years old has climbed eight mountains that are over 3000 meters high, including Jade Mountain, and Huanhe Mountain.

With the sport becoming increasingly popular in promoting a healthy lifestyle, experts are encouraging participants who want to stay in shape to slowly build up on their endurance before challenging steep mountains.
