Banana farmers in Taiwan are struggling this year to cope with plunging prices caused by overproduction, and not even help from politicians and enterprises have been enough for them to get through the storm. Based on our next story, perhaps it takes a superhero to save the day. . Meet Banana Man, the latest addition to the world of superheroes. He doesn't fight mega-villains like his better known foreign counterparts do, but the challenge he faces is no less daunting. At a time when Taiwan's banana supply far outstrips demand, the costumed hero is charged with the mission to whet the public's appetite for the fruit even further. And he does so by performing his unique brand of promotional antics to anyone that crosses his path as well as to countless web users who watch him online. The Banana man is actually Huang Po-cheng, an employee of a bakery in Taichung. And his boss, in order to help the suffering farmers, teamed up with over 1,000 bakeries in Taiwan to offer banana cakes around the island. But the product wasn't as well received as expected. Last month, during a brainstorming session for new marketing strategies, the idea of Banana man suddenly presented itself. And Huang, who grew up in farms, was more than willing to assume the new role. The strategy soon pays off, with 1,000 banana cakes being sold each day from the bakery Huang works for. And many banana farmers are grateful for what Huang and his boss have done. As far as superhero careers go, Banana man does seem to have a promising future. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
