Here's a major update that may swing the DPP votes in the Kaohsiung City mayoral election. Incumbent Kaohsiung County Commissioner Yang Chiu-hsing, a DPP member, has expressed his intention to run the year-end mayoral election as an independent candidate. After three days of contemplation, Yang Chiu-hsing has finally decided to run the election for the Greater Kaohsiung mayor. This is undoubtedly a crucial move that may change the election. Yang says that he feels a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to the development of the Greater Kaohsiung area and he will try his best to make Kaohsiung the no.1 city in Taiwan. He believes that through running the election, he is actually providing another choice for electorate in Kaohsiung. Responding to Yangs decision, incumbent Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu, says that she will try to communicate with Yang and is open to all possibilities for future cooperation. However, there have been rumors of infighting between the two candidates during the DPP primary, which may lead to the split of votes for DPP in Kaohsiung election. Yet the two candidates haven't communicated with each other in person since May. It is expected that Yang will make formal announcement after the first anniversary of the last year's flooding on 8th of August. Chen and DPP's effort to resolve the split will be the key to the election results. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
