Good Morning and thank you for sharing your day with me on CTS News. I am Cary Chuo. President Ma Ying-jeou and Premier Wu Den-yih visited two towns in Pingdong County yesterday to congratulate them on their amazing reconstruction achievements after Typhoon Morakot devastated both towns one year ago. President Ma also expressed his appreciation for the contribution that Tzuchi Foundation, a civilian charity group, has made to the reconstruction process. Rukai tribal members sing the song of ancenstral spirits to celebrate the official move-in. Dharma Master Cheng Yen also sent in a video to congratulate everyone for ending the nomadic lifestyle in the past year. Located in Changchi of Pingtung, the permenant housing project of Daai village was complete after four months of expedited construction. The first phase construction is done before the first anniversary of the 88 flooding, offering accommodation for 154 families from four villages in Wutai township and two villages in Sandimen township. Some villagers have doubts about the Buddhist Tzuchi Foundation, which is the main builder of the housing projects. Pingtung County Commissioner Tsao Chi-hong offered his apology to the residents and hopes the public can continue to support post-disaster reconstruction efforts. Earlier, some local groups criticize the Tzuchi Foundation for bringing in too many visitors to the Daai village, which affects the villagers' daily lives. Responding to the comment, President Ma and representatives of Tzuchi Foundation said that visitors mean business opportunities. The president believes the participation of local groups raise the efficiency of reconstruction and they deserve some recognition and respect. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
