The Ministry of the Interior has passed a new amendment, which will make voting a lot more convenient. Instead of having to travel back to one's registered areas, people will be able to cast their ballots at stations around their residences or schools. While KMT supports this draft that's currently being reviewed, the DPP is questioning the motive of this change, which is said to be in favor of President Ma Ying-jeou in garnering more votes for the 2012 Presidential Election. In response, The Ministry of Interior said, the point of the policy is purely to expand the voting service to everyone. For the 2012 Presidential election, voters won't need to go back to the place of their household registration to vote, instead, can apply to cast their votes at an off-site location. The Ministry of Interior just passed the amendment to the Presidential election law to allow more people the convenience to vote if going back to their household registration area is impossible during Election Day. The KMT supports the amendment for the main focus of the draft is to allow those involved in the election to be able to vote on site the day of the election where they work. In addition, those locked up in correction centers are able to exercise their rights to vote as well at designated locations, for which, the DPP questioned that the benefits favored those in the governmental agencies, which is a way for the KMT to garner more votes for President Ma Ying-jeou. DPP chairwoman Tsai Ying Wen said, a drastic change like that would certainly face problems and controversies in the beginning, why would it happen at a time for such a big election?
