The newly opened MRT Luzhou line allows passengers to travel for free in the first month of its operation, which attracted crowds of local residents to use the service yesterday. And they've been generally pleased with the convenience it offers. As soon as station workers remove the divider, the crowd pushes and shoves its way onto the escalator. Many greeted the first train to arrive with cheers and applause. Luzhou residents say that they have been waiting for this day for ten years, and that the inception of the new line will cut their commute time in half. The emergency alarm went off in the women's restroom on Wednesday afternoon, but station workers quickly determined that it had been pressed by accident. The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation sent additional workers to stations to deal with potential crowd issues. Due to safety considerations, the entire line has closed safety doors. Meanwhile, many disabled people are praising the line's barrier-free stations and design. Anyone with an EasyCard will be able to ride the line for free until December 2nd, and fees are only assessed for non-Luzhou line travel. The free rides do not apply to one-way tickets. Signs and directions for the Flora Expo can also be found in all of the line's stations and trains. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
