If you're seeking bargains on travel packages, this is an event you can't afford to miss. The Taipei International Travel Fair opened yesterday, offering numerous discounts on domestic and foreign tours. And the fair has attracted more than 46,000 visitors on the first day alone, which represents a 1.6% growth from last year. Most of the participating travel industry agents are optimistic about the future economy and are promoting heavily at the travel fair, especially packages to nearby southeast Asian countries, all in the hope of wrapping up 2010 with a bang. For domestic travel, though Suhua highway is still under repair, Hualien and Taitung travel market is still popular with some tour at the fair selling at a buy one get one free promotion, which attracted many to purchase. Local hotels are selling the vouchers which may be a bit more than in the past, but still would allow customers to stay at 30 percent of the list price. One customer even bought NT$80,000 worth of the hotel vouchers.
