The well-known Taiwanese folk singer Chen Ming-Chang has recently been promoting the traditional yueqin instrument, which he says it best represents local flavor.
This song "Wandering to Danshui" is quite fast paced and the audience can not help but clap along.
Known as a "folk legend," singer Chen Ming-chang, has not had a public appearance in a long time.
This is because in recent years he has been fully committed to the study and promotion of the traditional musical instrument the yueqin.
He said that after 30 years, he finally realized that Taiwanese ballads are closely related to the yueqin.
In the eyes of Chen Ming-chang, the yueqin is the instrument with musical elements mostly closely related to Taiwanese music.
He studied with yueqin expert Chu Ting-Shun, learning everything from the beginning, and also offered lectures and the cultivation of seed teachers.
Chen is the type of artist that studies wherever he goes and creates new innovation, and his song writing has included "The last train to Su-Ao" and "Hsinchu Wind" and other classic Taiwanese songs, including a Taiwan Golden Melody Award for Best Taiwanese album.
He represents a new generation's energy and inspiration.
Chen will launch a tour of Taiwan in November tour and in addition to creatively re-interpreting old songs, he will invite yueqin master, Chu Ting-Shun and other and young musicians on stage with him.
This will allow for a new interpretation of native Taiwanese songs that will definitely impress the local audience.
