Many of us will be traveling for the Chinese New Year vacation, and to meet the demand of the passengers, 269 additional flights have been scheduled between China and Taiwan. However, with the majority being red eye flights, the ticket sales have been weaker than expected.

Many Taiwanese businessmen are getting their boarding pass at Songshan Airport to fly to China for work. Lunar New Year break is almost here.

Some experienced businessmen have already bought their return tickets.

Some have already reserved their tickets a year ago because seats are hard to come by.

Every sear, the added flights during Lunar New Year are announced at the last minute. This year, the announcement by the CAA was delayed until the 14th because Chinese airports were behind schedule.

Of the 269 added flights, Shanghai had 63. But because normal flights were already full during normal hours, many of these added flights were red eye flights.

Airlines said these red eye flights are sold at a 40% discount.

But many travel agencies said this isn't much cheaper.

Travel agents said these added flights have been hard to sell because of the delay in announcement and many are red eye flights.

Sales weren't very good on the first day of Internet purchases yesterday. Some airlines said there isn't much demand for red eye flights.

If demand continues to be weak, airlines would consider merging flights.

Travelers are advised to check their actual flight time before booking tickets.
