Taitung used to be the last region in Taiwan where no fee will be charged for parking by the main roads. But not anymore. Starting Tuesday, car owners will have to pay 20 NT dollars per hour for parking in the eastern county. Taitung City's main roads are being marked by new white lines designating parking spaces. For those parking in these spaces, a meter person will issue a receipt that needs to be paid. Right now is a simple pilot program for the project, though it will go on line on March 8th when local people will be charged for parking though some will feel a little uncomfortable. Taitung County is the last part of Taiwan to charge for parking on main streets. Some oppose the change as they believe that there is lots of parking which is rather rare in Taiwan. This change may compete with motorcycle lanes though the Taitung County Government said that the size of these parking spaces is in full accordance with existing laws. Also, they will coordinate with homes and stores not to impede access with these parking spaces. Taitung County Government is planning to create five hundred pay parking spaces located in main urban roads with a change of 20 NT$ per hour. It will begin March 8 with Taitung Police towing illegally parked vehicles at the same time. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
