DPP chairwoman Tsai Ying-wen has confirmed that she is running for president in 2012. While she is planning to make a formal announcement today, possible candidates including ex-premier Su Tseng-chang and former vice president Annette Lu have expressed their respect toward Tsai's decision. Tsai added that she will be taking a temporary break from her chairwoman position in the meantime. After former vice president Annette Lu announced her intention in running in the 2012 presidential election, DPP chairwoman Tsai Ying-wen is going to hold a press conference at 10 am on Friday to formally announce her intention to run in the same election as well. The press conference of her announcement to run in the DPP party primary will be at National Taiwan University hospital conference center. After the news got out, both former premier Su Tseng-chang and Lu respected Tsai's decision while DPP secretary general Su Jia Chuan said the party would hold its middle ground to be fair. DPP central The primary will have 5 days registration period from the 21st to the 25th of this month, with March 31st and April 22nd set as the dates for debates or any other campaigning events. Public poll will be conducted from April 25th through the 29th.
