The Institute of Forensic Medicine, which is under the Ministry of Justice, is currently upgrading its facilities and equipment, in the hope of improving Taiwan's forensic capabilities and thereby making greater contributions to the legal system. This 3D scanner is used for forensic facial reconstructions, and is one of the most advanced pieces of equipment at the Ministry of Justice's Institute of Forensic Medicine. When combined with a facial database, the scanner can recreate the faces of individuals from their skeletal remains to help identify bodies and human remains. Forensic pathologists often play a key role in solving crimes and breaking cases open, and forensic technology is therefore invaluable in preserving the integrity of the judicial system and human rights. The institute is currently importing cutting-edge equipment and creating databases, but is facing a personnel and resource shortage. Institute officials say that forensic pathology is the starting point for judicial reform and improving the quality of crime investigations in Taiwan. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
