Experts are saying the reason why we love fatty food is because we never had enough to eat throughout our human history. To avoid dying from starvation, the brain is wired to pick up on signs that high-calorie foods are nearby, which help explain why we often crave for ice cream, rather than carrots.

However, the good news is that we can unlearn these instincts by training our brains to love healthy foods.

First, remove all signs of fatty foods around you. Second, carry healthy snacks around. For instance, have high-fiber cereal in your purse to ensure you don't reach for your co-worker's french fries.

Third, avoid eating your craved food at the beginning or at the end of a meal. Because starting a meal when youre hungry with something you absolutely crave will make your brain associate it with satisfaction and happiness. If you put it at the end of the meal, your brain will remember it as the last delicious thing you tasted. So if you really have to eat it, sneak it in between the meals.
