It was a wild and wacky day in Hollywood on Tuesday (March 20) as the Muppets received the 2,466th star on the Walk of Fame. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and a host of other Muppet notables were on hand to accept the honor - in a fanfare celebration with screaming crowds and confetti raining from above.

Kermit the Frog : "Hi everyone. Thank you for coming. I want to say on behalf of the Muppets that we are just really happy to be here on Hollywood Boulevard today joining some of the greatest names in showbiz."

Fozzi Bear: "Yeah, like Milton Berle."Walter: "And Don Knotts."Miss Piggy: "Or like Joan Crawford, or Bette Davis or Norma Desmond."Kermit the Frog: "Actually, Piggy, Norma Desmond is a fictional star."Miss Piggy: "Aren't they all?"

Kermit was joined by Lisa and Brian Henson, the daughter and son of Muppets creator Jim Henson.Lisa Henson: "As the Muppets once sang, 'Look at us. Here we are. Right where we belong.' and yes they do belong thanks to the lovers and dreamers and you the fans."

Kermit's first TV appearance was in 1955. Since then, he and his friends have grown into a global phenomenon that is still going strong more than 50 years later, most recently with their film "The Muppets" which is now available on DVD. (Bob Mezan/ Reuters)
