The DPP's Xin Bei City mayor candidate Tsai Ing-wen announced her campaign team yesterday, with ex-Premier Yu Shyi-kun serving as her campaign manager, and many other political heavyweights in key positions. Tsai emphasized that the year-end election will be an ensemble effort from the DPP, rather than her one-woman-show.
Tsai Ing-wen has finally finalized her campaign team, and did her best to put on a show of unity on Tuesday.
Yu Hsyi-kun and Chen Chin-jun had both expressed interest in running for Xin Bei City mayor, but Yu will now be acting as Tsai's campaign manager while Chen has agreed to oversee Tsai's support group.
Local representatives with deep community ties, meanwhile, have been tasked with managing her campaign in individual districts.
Former legislators Chao Yung-ching and Lai Chin-lin will be overseeing Chungho and Yungho, respectively, while Lee Hsien-jung will be in charge of Danshui.
Lin Shu-fen and legislator Yu Tien will be campaigning for Tsai in Sanchong, and former Council for Cultural Affairs Minister Chen Yu-shiou has been named honorary campaign manager.
While Tsai is intent on fighting a "group battle," her opponent Eric Chu says that his focus is on winning the support of grassroots voters.
Chu, who is representing the KMT, says that village and borough chiefs will be assisting with his campaign while Taipei County Magistrate Chou Hsi-wei will be coordinating efforts with community leaders.
