According to the latest survey, the two presidential hopefuls, Su Tseng-chang and Tsai Ing-win are close in numbers in terms of public polls and in their overall vision.

Scholars analyzed that Su's long-term experience as a politician is his advantage in the race, while Tsai has an upper hand in garnering votes from the younger generation with her fresh image. With the battle set to be intense, the chance of the two competitors collaborating is relatively low at this point.

After Su Jeng Chang and Tsai Ying Wen both registered for the DPP presidential primary, the competition begins with scholars pointing out that, both candidates offering similar promises and both enjoy similar support.

Su is more experienced in the political circle while Tsai is younger and has less political baggage.

both understand their own strength is exactly the opponents weakness, which they each included in their campaigns to help them in the public opinion poll, which is the start of a fierce competition.

Professor Hsieh ChengYu said that, as the election is getting closer, DPP members and other polititians are going to have to choose sides, which means a fierce stand-off within the DPP.

Professor Chu Chao Hsian of the National chengChi University department of Political Science said that, unity within the party is the priciple of strength, not the principle of moral as the key to win for Su and Tsai would be their strength.

however, Chu believes that, as the heated competition between Su and Tsai becomes more clear, there is a possibility that the DPP might pressure those two to work together to take back the control of the government as the general goal.
